Giada Cerpolloni is an example for everyone, the 31-year-old from Pesaro who did not give up in the face of the diagnosis of multiple sclerosis that came upon her like a train at such an early age but, on the contrary, reacted by committing herself even more to a sports discipline, crossfit, which in theory a person with this pathology could not even support. But she didn’t care and continued to train vigorously, so much so that she managed to qualify for the World Championships of her favorite sport and returned home from Texas with a silver medal.
Yesterday morning the mayor Andrea Biancani and the sports councilor Mila Della Dora met the athlete from Pesaro who took advantage of this splendid statement at the Adaptive Crossfit Games in the United States to award her an award. “His determination, his determination and his smile must be an example for everyone” they commented, complimenting the important result obtained in such a high level event aimed at people with difficulties, pathologies or disabilities. Giada discovered two years ago that she was suffering from multiple sclerosis: “A pathology that did not stop her, but which spurred her to do more and more, also thanks to sport which helps to live better, both physically and mentally – mayor and councilor continue – sport is inclusion, growth, sharing. Values that we find in Giada, a strong and extraordinary girl to whom we award the city’s applause today”.
Giada said she was “excited by this recognition and proud of what I managed to do”. And she tells how this adventure went on the other side of the ocean, where she had never been and where she flew alone, without any fear: “I felt the presence of the Italian community very much, that of my gym (the Box Street of Villa Fastiggi), of my family and of the city: four beautiful, intense days, with a purely mental job, because before entering the competition floor we had to succeed to stay calm, breathe and think about the gesture I had to make, imagining the movement, telling myself that it is a movement that I know, that I have always done. Mental management of emotions is fundamental”. And the adventure doesn’t end here for this ‘warrior’.
