Strong wind in Kiev – a fallen tree crashed a car, a man died

On Verkhovinnaya Street, 35, Svyatoshinsky District, a tree fell on a Peugeot car with people inside. Initially, 3 people were injured. One person died.

The woman was hospitalized with injuries.

Also, two pillars fell from the wind. A tree and electric poles smashed 4 cars. Another part of the cars was damaged by wires and fences.

In total, 14 cars were damaged in Kiev due to bad weather.

According to “Kyiv Rescue Service”, as of 21:00 on January 14, rescuers made 8 trips to calls related to weather conditions.

Work continues due to strong gusty winds:

• at 9:58, an emergency tree was removed with the help of a car tower, which posed a danger to the life of passers-by on Kotelnikova Street, in the Svyatoshinsky district of the capital;
• at 13:14, they eliminated the consequences of a tree falling in the courtyard of a residential building at 9 Stetsenko Street in the Podolsk region;
• at 17:18 a call was received about a sheet of metal that had been blown off the balcony of a residential building at 2-D Severnaya Street. Rescuers promptly arrived at the scene and eliminated a dangerous element hanging over passers-by;
• at 18:12 on Kibalchicha street, 4 rescuers removed a sheet of slate with the help of a car tower, which was blown onto a tree by the wind.
• at 18:02 the shield fell on Perova Street, 44;
• at 20:14, a shield fell on Prazhskaya Street, 8. Here, due to the large windage of the structure, the dangerous place was fenced off, the structure was immobilized.
