Strong performance: FCRJ wins in Bern

The start was perfect for FCRJ: After just four minutes, Dimitri Volkart scored the 1-0, after YB had just missed the goal with a great chance. The game was fast-paced in the first 20 minutes and full of dangerous penalty area scenes, with both lines of defence under heavy pressure. After that, YB increasingly took control and pushed for an equaliser, but the Rapperswil defence held firm, supported by a confident goalkeeper Alan Omerovic.

Rappi turns up the heat

In the final phase of the first half, FCRJ turned things up: Volkart set up Josué Schmidt in the 40th minute, but he was stopped by the YB goalkeeper. Shortly afterwards, Ribeiro hit the post and in stoppage time, FCRJ was awarded a penalty after a foul in the penalty area. Ribeiro converted safely to make it 2-0 at halftime.

A moment of shock followed in the 52nd minute when Volkart was left injured on the ground after a hard foul and had to be substituted. It seems that the injury is more serious.

YB pressure after the break

Despite YB’s pressure in the second half, FCRJ held firm defensively. In the 82nd minute, YB scored to make it 2-1, which suggested an exciting final phase. But Josué Schmidt redeemed Rapperswil with his goal in the 87th minute and sealed the 3-1 final score.

A strong performance by FCRJ, but overshadowed by Volkart’s injury. Either way: FC Rapperswil-Jona consolidates its position at the top of the table.
