Strong increases in grain prices on world exchanges

Yesterday’s quotations of grain contracts on world exchanges ended with a significant increase in prices. Wheat on Matif went up 1.9 percent.



After a weaker start of trading at the first session in the new year, yesterday grain prices in the world markets rose sharply. Wheat in the contract with the Matif delivery in March yesterday went up 1.9 percent. and cost 279.25 EUR / t (1143 PLN / t). In y / y terms, the quotes increased by 28.2%. The price of maize on the Paris stock exchange in the January contract (last quotation today) increased by as much as 10.6 percent. and amounted to EUR 250.00 / t (PLN 1037 / t), and over the last year it increased by 18.5%. As I wrote yesterday, the closer to the last quotation date, the smaller – sometimes symbolic – turnover and high randomness / volatility of prices. The next upcoming series of the contract with delivery in March increased by 1.6% yesterday. up to EUR 247.50 / t (PLN 1132 / t).

The price of wheat on CBoT in the March contract increased by 1.6 percent. and cost $ 282.92 / t. In y / y terms, the quotes increased by 17.7%. The price of corn in the contract for delivery in March on the Chicago Stock Exchange rose by as much as 3.4 percent. and amounted to 239.95 USD / t, and during the last year it went up by 23.9 percent.
