The number of corona infections in Curaçao has risen alarmingly in recent days. A thousand active infections were registered on Saturday. A week earlier there were 324 cases, the week before this was 97 cases.
The rapid increase is mainly due to the presence of the British variant, according to the government.
There are currently nineteen corona patients in the hospital, six of which are in intensive care. Four of them come from Bonaire. The number of infections there has increased considerably, which means that patients have to be brought to Curaçao.
In total, 23 corona patients in Curaçao have died since March 2020. At the moment, strict corona measures apply on the island, such as the mandatory wearing of a mouth mask and keeping your distance. There is also a curfew from 9 PM to 4:30 AM.
