Jakarta –
Deputy Chairperson of the KPK Lili Pintauli Siregar received strong criticism from anti-corruption activists and the DPR. The criticism came after Lili’s ethical violations were highlighted by the United States (US) Human Rights (HAM) report.
The strong criticism did not go unnoticed by the KPK Supervisory Board (Dewas). Quoted from the 2021 Country Reports on Human Rights Practices: Indonesia, which was seen from the website of the US Department of Foreign Affairs, the report highlights the ethical case committed by Lili. The US cited the Dewas ruling in the report.
“On August 30, the commission’s supervisory board determined that Commission Deputy Chair Lili Pintauli Siregar was guilty of ethical breaches in handling a bribery case involving the mayor of Tanjung Balai, Muhammad Syahrial. The council ruled that Siregar had improper contact with the subject of the investigation for his own personal gain and imposed a 40 percent one-year salary reduction for Siregar for the offence,” the report said.
At that time, Lili was subject to ethical sanctions by the Dewas by reducing her salary by 40 percent for a year. He was proven to have violated ethics because he communicated with the KPK litigants, namely the former Mayor of Tanjungbalai M Syahrial.
In addition, the KPK was also reported again to the KPK Council for alleged lies in a press conference. Then, Dewas is also currently investigating the alleged receipt of the Mandalika MotoGP viewing facility by Lili, from a state-owned company.
Some of Lili’s actions angered a number of anti-corruption activists. The criticism came from the Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) to members of the DPR.
Criticism of Members of DPR RI
Lili Pintauli Siregar was again reported to the Supervisory Board (Dewas) of the KPK, which this time was related to an alleged ethical violation of the Mandalika MotoGP viewing facility. The Democratic Party (PD) considers it good for Lili Pintauli to resign from her position.
“It is better for the sake of the KPK, which has integrity, that he voluntarily resigns,” said Deputy Secretary of the Democratic Party, Benny Kabur Harman, to reporters on Saturday (16/4).
Lili Pintauli had already been sanctioned for violating the ethics of meeting the litigant parties in the case of former Walkot Tanjungbalai M Syahrial. Benny hopes that Dewas will show his talent in investigating and adjudicating the latest report on Lili Pintauli.
“Dewan KPK should not be a toothless tiger,” said the member of Commission III of the DPR RI.
Benny was surprised that Lili Pintauli was reported back to the KPK Council. This is because this is not the first time that Lili Pintauli has been reported to the KPK Council.
