Strong accident in Bogotá: a SITP bus and an ambulance collided

The tranquility of the morning of Saturday, January 13 in the north of Bogotá was interrupted by a strong collision between a bus of the Integrated Public Transportation System (SITP) that was full of passengers and an ambulance, exactly on 127th Street with Carrera 58 (Las Villas Avenue), in the town of Suba.

The incident left eight people injured, four who were traveling in the ambulance and four who were traveling in the public transportation service vehicle. Emergency agencies arrived as soon as they could to care for those affected by the road accident and transfer them to nearby care centers.

The cause of the accident would have been the bad behavior of one of the drivers. “It is under investigation, but the main hypothesis we have so far is that they did not respect the traffic signs, the red light, for the ambulance,” explained Colonel Wilson Barrios, sectional chief of traffic and transportation of the Police. , for the CityTv newscast.

The event caused serious structural damage to two homes, although no fatalities were reported. According to Noticias Caracol, two minors were injured as a result of the incident.

That media reports that one of the minors suffered a broken arm and the other suffered a broken collarbone. In response, the local mayor provided vouchers so that affected families could spend the night in a safe place.

It is suspected that the excess weight could have caused the driver of the vehicle to lose control, although the official causes of the incident have yet to be confirmed.
