To the surprise of many, it was announced yesterday that Lance Stroll will participate in the Bahraini Grand Prix this weekend. The Canadian Aston Martin driver had broken his wrists and underwent surgery. Stroll is back now back in business and gives more clarity on the matter in Bahrain.
In the past week there was a lot of uncertainty about Stroll’s injury. Aston Martin indicated just before the three-day test week in Bahrain that Stroll had had an accident during cycling training in Spain and that he missed the test days as a result. During those test days he was replaced by reserve driver Felipe Drugovich and it was expected that the Brazilian would also race.
Stroll, however, ‘just’ gets behind the wheel again. The Canadian has driven again in the simulator and seems ready for the real thing again. Speaking to the international media, Stroll explains the situation: “I fell off my bike and broke both wrists. I then had surgery on my right wrist, but that was a minor operation. It was only a minor operation and after that it went it is mainly about recovery and physiotherapy. There are now some screws in it, it is not yet certain whether they will go out. The doctors are going to look at that.”
