Stroke Symptoms that Often Unconsciously: Difficulty Speaking and Forgotten

Paralysis and weakness of the limbs are symptoms stroke the most common. However, besides that, there are other symptoms of stroke that are often not realized, such as difficulty speaking and forgetting.

“Symptoms of stroke are generally weakness in the limbs. But, what is often not realized is that there are also symptoms of stroke associated with language disorders,” said neurologist RSPON Asnelia Devicaesaria to CNNIndonesia.com in commemoration of World Stroke Day every 29 October.

Asnelia explained, the symptoms of this stroke occurred suddenly. Symptoms of a language disorder stroke can be in the form of difficulty pronouncing words, pronouncing words incorrectly or backwards, pronouncing words without meaning, and also being unable to understand what other people say.

“So there is a disagreement with language. Suddenly unable to produce language or not understanding speech, it could be both,” said Asnelia.

Apart from language disorders, other signs of stroke are memory or memory problems. This memory disorder is also known as vascular dementia or a group of symptoms with the criteria of memory and cognitive disorders that occur due to disorders of blood vessels in the brain.

“Vascular dementia can be acute or slow in stroke sufferers. Cognitive function can change by forgetting what happened or forgetting where you are, accompanied by behavioral disorders. Sometimes people think it’s a mental disorder, but it’s not,” said neurologist Made Ayu Wedariani.

Made explained, this symptom arises because clogged blood vessels in the brain affect parts of the brain related to memory and cognitive.

Made said that everyone or family who knows someone with symptoms of forgetfulness or language disorder must immediately be taken to the hospital for medical treatment. The quicker it is dealt with, the less damage and the better the chance it will heal and return to normal.
