A Regional Center of Excellence will be established in Stroke at the “Prof. N. Oblu” Emergency Clinical Hospital in Iasi. Following discussions at the Ministry of Health with manager Lucian Eva and Minister Alexandru Rafila, all necessary steps will be taken so that Iași can benefit from such a life-saving project as soon as possible.

The Stroke Center, absolutely necessary for specialized treatment in cases of this type, lowers mortality, reduces complications and can avoid paralysis in patients with heart attacks or cerebral hemorrhages. Patients can then return to normal life without sequelae and able to work.

Worldwide, stroke is the third leading cause of recorded deaths, after cardiovascular disease and cancer. According to statistical data, one million strokes are recorded every year in Europe and Romania ranks among the top three European countries in terms of the highest incidence of cerebrovascular diseases.
Unfortunately, our country also records the highest mortality from stroke in Europe (21.64%), being the second leading cause of death at the national level, after cardiovascular diseases.
At the same time, the Ministry of Health has approved the purchase of a state-of-the-art #MRN machine, which will serve the medical unit for imaging research. The cost of this investment will amount to about 6 million lei “. Said the leader of the Iași Social Democrats, Senator Maricel Popa.
