Stroke cases are increasing, PON Hospital is developing Brain Check Up for early detection

What is even more concerning is that many stroke cases are referred to the PON Hospital already in a state of late. This causes the chances of his recovery to get lower

Jakarta (ANTARA) – The National Brain Center Hospital (RS PON) has developed the Brain Check Up (BCU) method as an integrated service for superior early detection in the field of brain and nerves.

“We have prepared this Brain Check Up service as a superior service for the PON Hospital, because stroke cases continue to increase,” said the Director of Medical, Nursing and Support Services for the Jakarta PON Hospital, Adin Nulkhasanah, through a press release from the Indonesian Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) received in Jakarta, Tuesday.

Adin said stroke sufferers were dominated by people aged 40 years and over who still showed an increasing trend of cases.

“What’s even more concerning is that many stroke cases are referred to the PON Hospital already in a state of late. This causes the chances of recovery to be lower,” he said.

PON Hospital provides an average of 2,500 surgeries a year, most of which are due to tumors and vascular.

“When he came to the PON Hospital, his condition was already severe, with a large tumor, there was already a disability impact, it was hoped that we would know earlier so that disability or death could be prevented,” he said.

For stroke sufferers, he said, this disability has the potential to affect productivity and quality of life due to increasingly limited physical activity.

For this reason, he continued, the presence of this service is expected to increase public awareness to routinely carry out health screening at least once a year.

Health screening through the BCU is carried out with a series of examinations, including physical examination, physical neurobehavior, cardiac physical examination, cardiographic examination, EKG and treadmill, neuroophthalmological examination, EEG examination and pulmonology, laboratory examination (blood viscosity, cholesterol, blood sugar), chest X-ray, as well as CTA examination (MRI & MRA).

Adin said BCU services were prioritized for those aged 40 and over. But if there are risk factors, the public is still allowed to carry out the examination.

“Those under the age can come for examination, because it is better to prevent and treat it immediately if there are abnormalities,” he said.
