The experimental project started in 2023, strongly supported by the General Director Gennaro Sostowas extended to the entire company hospital network in the first months of 2024, and which today allows citizens to be guaranteed timely stroke intervention in the entire territory under the jurisdiction of the ASL of the province of Salerno.
In recent days, the providential intervention via Telestroke has in fact made it possible to save the life of a 65-year-old from the Sapri area who had suffered a stroke.
As per the protocol, telemedicine consultancy was first carried out between the operators of the Sapri hospital and the Neuroradiology department of the hospital of Lower Nocera. The patient was then transferred by air ambulance to the Nocerino “Umberto I” hospital, where he underwent mechanical thrombectomy treatment within a few hours. The surgery was performed by a multidisciplinary team led by the director of Neuroradiology Nocera Andrea Mantoby Dr By Donnaby the anesthetist Scarpedby the nephrologist Torreby the director of Neurology Teresa Cuomor and by his neurologist colleague Tables.
