More than 28,000 minutes drawn up last year. Fraudsters face fines of up to 8,000 euros.
The figures are as shocking as they are maddening: according to the Institut Vias, a specialist in road safety, no less than 12% of traffic accidents in 2020 resulting in injuries – or even death – in at least one of the users involved, resulted in a hit-and-run by one of the other users involved. That is to say in nearly 3,600 accidents in 2020. Unscrupulous drivers, who therefore took to the skies without thinking of the 4,500 injured people whom they abandoned to their sad fate at the scene of the accident.
