More than 700 passenger flights were canceled at Munich Airport on Friday due to a strike by ground and security staff, as the city prepares to host the Munich Security Conference.
The airport said in a statement: “There will be no regular passenger flights from 00:00 Friday until 00:01 Saturday morning. More than 700 landing and take-off flights will be affected.
The announcement came about the cancellation of flights, while air traffic gradually returned to normal, on Wednesday afternoon at Frankfurt airports in western Germany, and Munich (south), after disturbances due to an information malfunction caused by construction work, and affected the flights of the Lufthansa Group.
“The fault has been fixed and air traffic has resumed in Frankfurt and Munich,” a Lufthansa spokesman said.
According to agencies, the informational malfunction led to the cancellation of several flights of the German Lufthansa Group, which also operates Austrian Airlines, Swiss Airlines, and Brussels Airlines, in the two largest airports in the country, for several hours.
