In the districts of Pinneberg, Steinburg, Segeberg, Plön, Stormarn, Duchy of Lauenburg, Ostholstein and Lübeck, buses are canceled today due to the tariff conflict in the private bus industry.
The warning strike in private bus transport continues. According to a ver.di spokesman, the strike has been going on since this morning not nationwide, but in individual districts: in Pinneberg, Steinburg, Segeberg, Storman, Duchy of Lauenburg, Ostholstein and in Lübeck. The strike started at the start of work and ends at the end of each day. According to the North German transport company not to strike-related failures.
A very high number of participants can be expected in the other districts, according to the union. The majority of public buses will not run reliably. The subcontractors themselves are responsible for replacement and alternative routes.
Broken collective agreement with the North Bus Association
The reason for the strike is the collapse of the collective agreement with the North Bus Association (OVN). “The strikes are just a foretaste of what passengers will face if the employers’ collective bargaining ghost train ride is not ended quickly,” emphasizes ver.di spokesman Frank Schischefsky.
Current strike information can be found on the following websites
Plön district: VKP passengers also affected by strike
The Plön district transport buses will not be running today or tomorrow. Here too, the ver.di union has called on employees to go on a warning strike. According to its own information, it is demanding, among other things, 350 euros more wages over a period of twelve months for employees to whom the railway collective agreement applies. The salaries for trainees should increase by 180 euros.
According to ver.di, they want to keep the profession attractive so that qualified bus drivers will continue to drive around the country in the future. The Schönberg, Lütjenburg, Preetz and Plön locations are affected by the strike. Call taxis are not affected. Employers criticize the warning strikes and consider them excessive.
According to ver.di, everyone who belongs to the North Bus Association (OVN). These are around 80 private bus companies from Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein with around 1,700 buses and around 3,000 employees – including, for example, DB Regio Bus Nord, Autokraft, Rohde Verkehrsbetriebe, Transdev Nord, the Pinneberg district transport company and the Südholstein transport company. Customers can only find out which bus routes are still running despite the strike from the respective companies themselves. Tourist companies are exempt from the strike. The Plön district transport company is part of the railway collective agreement, but is also scheduled to go on warning strike on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Currently scheduled to run until October 17th be on strike. It can also spontaneous strike actions come. According to ver.di, these should be announced in a press release at 6 p.m. the day before the respective strike. As the union announced, if the bus companies break the strike, a completely unannounced strike could occur again.
The Plön district transport company is on strike Tuesday and Wednesday (October 15th to 16th).
No, at least not everywhere in the country. DB Regio Bus Nord says it is working on emergency timetables. Autokraft also wants to try to use the Kielius airport bus routes between Kiel Central Station and Hamburg Airport as well as the X85 line between Lübeck and Fehmarn (Ostholstein district). But a guarantee cannot be given.
After the first days of strikes in mid-October, restrictions on bus services must also be expected for the rest of the month. However, Ver.di has indicated that it would be prepared to call off subsequent strikes if the Nord Bus Association (OVN) returned to the collective agreement that had already been negotiated. The employers’ association had previously withdrawn from the compromise that had actually been agreed upon in the collective bargaining dispute.
Yes, spontaneous strike action can also occur. Ver.di wants to announce at short notice which regions and buses will be affected the day before the strike at 6 p.m. Ver.di has therefore changed its strategy – to the advantage of commuters, who can therefore prepare better for bus cancellations. Previously there was talk of completely unannounced strikes. However, if the bus companies break the strike – i.e. if the companies set up replacement transport through subcontractors or with staff not employed on regular services – ver.di reserves the right to go on strike again completely unannounced, explains union spokesman Frank Schischefsky.
Partially. Wherever school bus transport is taken over by private bus companies, trips to school could also be canceled. However, ver.di has not yet provided any more precise information about student traffic. Here too, the union refers to the short-term announcements made on the evening before the respective strikes.
The North Bus Association (OVN) had withdrawn from a collective agreement that had actually already been negotiated with the ver.di union. The reason: According to the association, the state government provides less money for local public transport. The new collective agreement can no longer be financed. The agreement provided for an increase in wages of 275 euros and the payment of an inflation compensation bonus of 850 euros. And back in the spring, the union and employers had already agreed that weekly working hours would fall to 37.5 hours at the latest with the new line tenders.
Employers and unions are also fighting over more money for employees in the railway collective agreement. According to ver.di, there is still no agreement in sight there either.
