Strike in Russia. What is Putin’s greatest fear?

Despite the full-scale war against Ukraine and aggressive statements, Russian President Vladimir Putin has no intention of igniting World War III. This opinion was expressed by Russian oppositionist Olga Kurnosova in an interview with Obozrevatel.

“All this tough rhetoric is aimed primarily at the domestic Russian consumer to explain why the ‘special operation,’ as it has been called, has been going on for so long and why it looks much more like a full-scale war than what was promised at the outset.” The only way to explain this to the Russians is to say that they are actually at war not with Ukraine, but with NATO,” said Olga Kurnosova.

As far from reality as they are, Putin and his entourage understand that they will be defeated in a full-scale war. “That’s why I don’t think they really want to start World War III,” the oppositionist summed up.

On February 24, the Russian military, at the behest of Vladimir Putin, launched a full-scale unprovoked war against Ukraine that continues to this day. In recent months, Putin’s regime has threatened that the war could spill over into NATO territory, although analysts say this is just a bluff. Putin would not risk facing the most powerful military alliance in history, given his military’s modest capabilities in conventional warfare.
