Strike in Munich: subways don’t run, tram 20 runs – Munich

This Friday, the employees of the Munich Transport Company (MVG) are called on for the second day in a row to go on warning strike. The subway and trams stood still at the start of operation because there were not enough drivers. The U6 line started operating around 8 a.m., as announced by MVG. Line 20 was in operation until 8 p.m. The other lines are set. In addition, about half of the planned buses are in use. They run at irregular intervals on most lines. There is currently no operation on these bus routes: X30, 58/68, 153, 159, 176.

From around 1.30 a.m., according to the planning of the MVG, all night lines for buses and trams should run again.

Only the U6 ran in the morning, the tram 20 between Moosach and Stachus remained in operation throughout the day. A few of the bus lines were completely canceled, most were served, albeit in a thinned-out form.

Verdi also called for all-day warning strikes in local public transport in Nuremberg, Augsburg, Regensburg, Ingolstadt, Bamberg and Bayreuth on Friday. In the case of Nuremberg, this will also affect Erlangen and Fürth.

Recycling centers in Munich are closed until Saturday

There are also numerous warning strikes in the public sector. On Friday, they affect, among other things, the Müllabfuhr and the recycling centers in Munich. at AWM recycling centers and the used goods department store in Hall 2 are closed up to and including Saturday. According to the information, the bin emptying will also be largely suspended on Friday. The recycling and poison mobile and the bulky waste collection do not drive.

In the collective bargaining in the public sector and local transport companies, Verdi is demanding 10.5 percent more wages, but at least 500 euros more per month. In addition, the union is committed to ensuring that the employees of MVG, who have been paid according to an in-house tariff, will in future be paid according to the collective agreement for local transport that is valid throughout Bavaria.

On Friday, the climate movement “Fridays for Future” also demonstrated from twelve o’clock on Munich’s Odeonsplatz. The MVG strikers also take part in the protest rally. A total of 25,000 people attended the demonstration.

The next strikes in the public sector are already threatening in the coming week. Above all, many parents in Munich are likely to feel the absence of daycare workers on Wednesday.
