A strike in Hamburg has escalated in the collective bargaining dispute over the wages of port workers. Recordings circulating on the Twitter platform show police officers and protesters clashing.

Apparently some of the workers threw firecrackers and bottles at the officers and harassed them. The police then used tear gas. According to a report from the “Hamburger Abendblatt” there should be some injuries.
Large-scale strike planned in Hamburg
In the Hanseatic city, port workers from all major locations took to the streets on Friday to demonstrate for their wage demands. From the main train station, with a stopover at the Binnenalster, they moved to a central rally at the trade union building near the station. Several thousand employees were expected.
