Strike: Gatherings in the center of Athens in progress – Streets closed – 2024-04-21 12:27:36

It is difficult to travel in the center of Athens, as there is an ongoing march for the strike that has been announced by the GSEE.

A large number of people are currently in Syntagma, since the message for the gatherings before the march had been given early on.

The GSEE meeting was set for 11:00, which focuses on demands for wage increases, immediate action to tackle punctuality, but also a crackdown on profiteering. At the same time, the main demand of today’s demonstrations is the reinstatement of the Collective Labor Agreements.

Traffic arrangements in the center of Athens

There are emergency traffic regulations from 09:30 in the center of Athens.

The arrangements will be imposed because of the 24-hour strike by the GSEE, during which unions, student unions and other collectives will march in protest and roads will be closed. More specifically, the streets surrounding the Propylaia, Omonia Square (Patision, Aiolou, etc.), Syntagma Square (Othonos, Amalia and Vasilissis Sofia Avenues) as well as the University and Stadium roads will be closed.

The Police appeals to drivers to avoid moving on the above roads until the completion of the mobilization.
