Strike at Dunlop in Montluçon (Allier): “historic” commitments obtained

For Dunlop employees in Montluçon (Allier), “it’s unheard of”: after more than 2 weeks of social movement, they obtained “historic” commitments from management on Thursday July 21, according to the CGT.

They had been on strike since July 7: more than two weeks later, Dunlop employees in Montluçon (Allier) finally obtained a number of commitments from management, particularly in terms of remuneration: “During yesterday’s meeting, there was a commitment from the management of 400 euros net of bonus. At the level of the hours of strike which had been made, for the speeches, the management reimbursed the operators. It there was also a commitment from management on future NAOs (Editor’s note: mandatory annual negotiations), a guaranteed minimum of 5% on a budget envelope”, explains Frédéric Belhomme, CGT union delegate.

He congratulates himself: “Inevitably, it will never be enough, but in terms of commitments, 5% is historic, it is unheard of at Goodyear. We are optimistic for the NAO 2023 which will take place at the beginning of September, on the 1st, the 6th and the 8th and which would be applicable from January 2023 instead of May. We would already gain 4 months on salary increases.”

These commitments were obtained at the end of a strike which mobilized many employees, according to Frédéric Belhomme: “The movement has been very closely followed by workers or even collaborators since July 7, it really took off the clutch the first 10 days, we eased off while waiting for yesterday’s meeting”. He now questions the teams on the follow-up to be given to the movement: “We went around the 3 teams posted in three 8s, we still have the weekend teams to consult before making a decision”. All employees at the Montluçon and Riom sites and at the Goodyear France headquarters are concerned.

In early July, the announcement of a payment reduced to 16 euros in June was “the spark, it provoked anger and indignation. In return, we asked for the reinstatement of this participation bonus of 400 euros, because 16 euros is worse than nothing. then specified David Guillaume, CFDT union representative. The employees had decided to pay the money from this bonus to the Montluçonnaise association Epi de Lumière which accompanies hospitalized children.
