strike action at Dassault as part of national wage negotiations

At the call of the inter-union CGT and CFDT, Dassault employees organized a filtering dam at the entrance to the Anglo-West plant, this Wednesday, December 8, 2021, to demand wage increases

Fhad pallets, smoke, fog horns, since 5 hours, this Wednesday, December 8, 2021, between 150 and 200 employees of the Dassault plant in Anglet have organized a filter dam called to last all day, despite the bad weather, in front of the main entrance.

They responded to the call of the inter-union CGT and CFDT to publicly express their disagreements with the salary proposals made, at the national level, by the management of Dassault Aviation, as part of the mandatory annual negotiations.

For Alain Darmendrail, CFDT delegate and secretary of the social and economic committee of Dassault Anglet (which in its external communication calls itself Dassault Biarritz, editor’s note), these negotiations “did not go well”. He considers that the period is nevertheless very favorable for Dassault Aviation.

“Aircraft sales are doing well. Contracts have recently been signed with Greece and Croatia and the signing of the sale of 80 Rafale to the United Arab Emirates has just been announced. All the indicators are in good shape. And, after a year 2020 at zero, management is only proposing a revaluation of 1.6% for non-executives and 3.1% for executives. It’s not sufficient. “

New meeting

As for the CFDT, we are asking for an increase of 140 euros for all employees, regardless of their status.

The CGT, for its part, is calling for an immediate increase of 200 euros, plus a salary increase of 5%. “Currently, management only offers 160 euros for an executive and 28 euros for a non-executive,” says Christophe Brise, CGT delegate for Dassault Anglet. There are currently single-parent workers in the factory who live below the poverty line. This is why the CGT has been organizing movements for several weeks. The NAOs are, in theory, finished since last week, but the management of Dassault Aviation has decided to organize a new meeting on Thursday, December 9, 2021. “

The filtering dam of this Wednesday, December 8 was part of this perspective, but had been planned since last week. According to the CGT delegate from the Angloye factory, “today’s discontent reaches that of 2012, the year when there were major strikes”.

A 14,000 m² building

For Alain Darmendrail of the CFDT, it is necessary, in addition to the revaluation of salaries, to make hires. The Angloye Dassault plant has around 900 employees, but has seen its activity strengthened. It produces fuselages for the Falcons and Rafales. But a 14,000 m² building was built on the former factory car park.

It is called to accommodate the production of the canopy for the Falcon 10 X, civil aircraft defined as very fast and with a very long range. An aircraft equipped with security systems resulting from military technologies. The Anglet plant is called upon to manufacture the wings in innovative composite materials for this Falcon 10 X, capable of going nonstop from New York to Shanghai. It is due to enter service at the end of 2025.
