Strict Compliance with Wage Protection Scheme Implemented by the Ministry of Human Resources in Saudi Arabia

Organizations are instructed to strictly follow the wage protection scheme implemented by the Ministry of Human Resources in Saudi Arabia. This is a scheme to pay wages to all employees of the country only through bank accounts. The scheme was implemented with an aim to ensure timely payment of wages to the workers and to reduce grievances in the labor sector.

The HRD Ministry has asked the organizations to strictly comply with the Wage Protection Act, which came into effect on December 1, 2020. The ministry also warned that institutions that do not comply with the law will face measures including fines. The plan is to distribute monthly wages to all employees through bank accounts.

The project was implemented in various phases. Bank document is the proof if the salary is not received on time. In this regard, the worker can complain to the concerned departments of the Ministry. If the salary is continuously delayed, the employee can change the sponsorship without the employer’s permission. The project was implemented as a solution to the problems and crises faced by the labor sector in the country.
