THE HAGUE –
Scheveningen was temporarily affected by a power outage on Friday evening. 946 customers were without electricity, also part of the beach bars. “From Noorderstrand to almost the harbor everything is out,” said Allie Simonis of the eponymous fishmonger.

The warm weather makes it very busy on the beach. “There are many cars and bicycles are parked everywhere,” says Simonis, who has two cases in the affected area.
The power outage caused beach tent refrigerators to fail and customers were unable to withdraw cash. “It is over thirty degrees, when that refrigerator goes out, it will be around 20,” says Simonis. He was afraid he had to throw away many products. Payment was also impossible. Pins cannot work without electricity anyway, ‘but the cash registers also open electrically’.
Second power failure
And it is not the first time, says the famous fishmonger. ‘Last year on Ascension Day we also had a power outage, when the power was out for three to four hours. I’m afraid it’s a capacity problem. ”
The outage was resolved at 6:28 PM. The cause was a broken electricity cable.
