Strengthening mobilization in Ukraine: experts told about who and when will be called

Analysts do not rule out that new forces will be needed in the event of an offensive from both sides.

Amid news of ongoing mobilization in Russia and Ukraine, military experts told TSN.ua about when we should expect an increase in such measures in our country.

“Strengthening of mobilization measures in our country may occur in case of preparation to repel a probable offensive Russian troops, says military expert Oleg Zhdanov. – Secondly: in case of providing us with the necessary equipment and weapons. The fact is that now we cannot deploy a large-scale mobilization due to a lack of equipment. We will recruit people and what will we do with them? We don’t have enough technology. In addition, today the system works like a conveyor belt: we suffer losses because there is a war going on. For replenishment, we are constantly gradually gaining people. But there is no excitement. Today, recruitment centers recruit people, guided by professional affiliation, according to the requests of the General Staff. The latter determines how many mechanics are needed, how many drivers or gunners. If there are such people, they are called. If there are none, then there is a set of suitable for service. The latter are sent for training and master military specialties.

According to the military expert, the issuance of subpoenas in public places will continue.

“There is an explanation from the General Staff that the law allows serving a summons anywhere,” says Oleg Zhdanov. for that, so that a person comes to the military enlistment office and clarifies his data. Now the Verkhovna Rada wants to resolve this issue at the legislative level: so that every citizen is obliged to come to the military enlistment office and clarify their data.”

In turn, the military-political observer of the Information Resistance group Alexander Kovalenko does not exclude that the strengthening of mobilization in Ukraine will depend on the same measures from the enemy side.

“Increased mobilization in Ukraine can occur with a lack of available resources to stop Russian aggression,” says Kovalenko. “At the same time, the Russians’ resource is not enough now to conduct large-scale offensive operations. They need to accumulate a resource of 100,000-200,000 troops. For example, to compensate for losses, they need 50 thousand personnel per month. From this we can conclude that for the offensive, in addition to these 50 thousand, the Russians need about 100 thousand more for the strike group.”

Mobilization in Ukraine: what is known

Recently, Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov said that mobilization in Ukraine continues “in a calm manner.”

“We have announced mobilization in February since the beginning of this invasion, and it has not been completed … As Commander-in-Chief Valery Zaluzhny says, we do not have such a great need for people as the Russians do. We have a need for weapons, equipment, equipment, etc. Unfortunately, there are also losses. Therefore, with those whom we select, we make up for the losses of our combat brigades,” he said.
