Strengthening Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises in Guatemala: Business Development Services and Empowerment Programs

Through the Vice Ministry of Development of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (Mipyme), of the Ministry of Economy (mineco)the strengthening of the enterprises of these productive sectors continues, in search of the transformation of the country.

The Business Development Services (SDE) are divided into programs such as Guatemala emprende, Productive articulation, Trade promotion and Economic revitalization headquarters, which seek to promote the culture of business formality.

All this, to link businesses to the national and foreign markets through public-private strategic alliances and international cooperation, which act in value chains, trade fairs and meetings, exports and the White Seal, among others. The purpose is to enhance business skills and support national brands to integrate them into the artisan, gastronomic and tourist offer, and thus find new markets for local producers.

From this account, businessmen and entrepreneurs are advised throughout the nation, regarding their competitive advantages. In Chiquimula, the Mi Pueblo Mi Producto program aims to empower local committees to promote their tourism, gastronomic and artisan products.

Likewise, the economic empowerment of women provides autonomy for the creation and development of companies. Finally, with artisan innovation, locals are supported to rescue traditional techniques.
