JAKARTA – Microsoft is known to have just bought an AI chat technology company called Nuance with a value of USD19.7 billion (IDR287.4 trillion).

Microsoft will pay USD56 per share for Nuance. This value is 23 percent greater than the closing price at the end of last week.
“AI is technology’s most important priority, and health is its most urgent application,” said Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella in his official statement, as quoted by The Verge, Tuesday (13/4/2021).
“Together, with our partner ecosystem, we will put the most advanced AI solutions into the hands of professionals everywhere to drive better decision making and create more meaningful relationships, as we accelerate the growth of the Microsoft Cloud in Healthcare and Nuance.” .
Nuance is known for its Dragon software which uses deep learning to transcribe speech and improve its accuracy over time by adjusting it to the user’s voice.
They have licensed this technology to many well-known applications and services, including Apple’s Siri voice assistant.
Dragon is also known as the leading technology in providing accurate transcription.
The collaboration between the two will focus more on digital health. Nuance currently offers healthcare solutions such as clinical voice recognition, medical transcription and medical imaging.
Nuance’s proprietary healthcare technologies, including the Dragon Medical One platform set to recognize medical terms, are used by more than half a million doctors worldwide and 77% of hospitals in the United States.
