For the last months of her life, Rasma stayed in a private palliative care center, which was ready to admit her immediately after the Ortho Clinic, where she underwent spinal surgery, but unfortunately that was not enough. The lion’s share of 14.8 thousand euros for the spine operation in the autumn was covered by donors donating to Ziedot.lv, the remaining costs – the family. According to Reinis, “the spine was operated on in the hope of living for some time, but the cancer developed, metastasized, and no doctor undertook surgery.”
Then the only solution was palliative care. Its costs are very high, and the palliative care center costs around 2,200 euros a month. Initially, they were covered by “Ziedot.lv” from the money collected in another charity project, but in December “Stiprini stipros” became involved and the December costs will be covered by the donors’ money collected in this project.
