Street Reach Festival: Bringing Classical Music to Everyone’s Doorstep

Within street reach. The name of this festival says everything about its purpose and its ambitions, to put classical music within everyone’s reach, in the street, in contact and in the front line with the population. Created by the Forum association and its president, Claire-Marie Peyrot from the Gachons, it has found its place perfectly, the concerts, all free, integrating harmoniously into the heritage of Castres.

For this eighteenth edition and therefore the age of majority, internationally renowned musicians will once again be on the program for four days during which the music will take to the air and stroll through the streets, alleys and squares of the city ​​within reach of all Castres and tourists.

Monday July 17

It is a young guitarist of Franco-Spanish origin, born in Toulouse, Thibaut Garcia, who opens the ball. Guitar prize in the pink city, before continuing his training at the National Conservatory of Music and Dance in Paris. First prize in the prestigious Guitar Foundation of America competition in 2015, and instrumental revelation of the Victoires de la Musique Classique in 2019, he has established himself as one of the most gifted guitarists of his generation.
7 p.m., Hôtel de Poncet (Chopin, Paganini, Beethoven, etc.)

The evening continues on the same site with the Quatuor Zemlinsky which perpetuates the tradition of the string quartet in Bohemia. The ensemble won the 1st Prize at the Bordeaux International String Quartet Competition in 2010 and thus concludes a whole series of prizes obtained in Canada, at the Prague Spring and in London where it won the Press Prize.

Tuesday July 18

Discovery of talents with two young artists, William Winterstin and Mathis Cathignol (piano) who will play Chopin and Ravel.

The Ensemble Les Virtuoses, created by violinist Vadim Tchijik, will take over. by violinist Vadim Tchijik. It is a string formation of very high level concert musicians. The workforce allows him to tackle a varied repertoire ranging from baroque music to the present day alongside soloists such as Anne Queffelec, Marielle Nordmann, Thierry Caëns and Philippe Bernold.

Violin and piano duet with Natalia Pancec and Olivier Lechardeur. Particularity, the violinist plays on a Gennaro Vinaccia violin (around 1770), provided by the Bucharest Philharmonic.
