Musicians played at three locations in the city center on Saturday afternoon. Artists and audience alike liked the new format.

Wolfratshausen – In recent years, Saturday afternoons on Marktstraße have mostly been characterized by tranquility and uneventfulness. On the first weekend of Pentecost, there was a completely different picture between Obermarkt and Untermarkt: at Marienplatz, in front of Schwankl-Eck and in the Rathausinnenhof, singing, tuba and guitar music could be heard for over two hours on Saturday afternoon. The start of the street concerts initiated by cultural manager Andreas Kutter was well received by the protagonists and the audience alike.

Street concerts in Wolfratshausen: music enlivens the old town

Claudia Sommer and Klaus Reichardt opened the dance in the inner courtyard of the town hall with energetic cover versions of Amy MacDonald and the “4 Non Blondes”. The acoustics here were significantly better than at Schwankl-Eck, which is almost 200 meters away. There the leader of the town band, Christian Tomsu, blew into his tuba and was able to at least partially drown out the traffic noise of the passing cars. Fabio Faganello had better luck at Marienplatz, who sang his own compositions on his guitar and was initially supported on the drums by the singer-songwriter Jan Wannemacher from Münsingen.

Lots going on in Wolfratshausen: street art series is well received

The benches between the parish church and Marienbrunnen invited people of all ages to linger. While some children were splashing in the water, Faganello from Wolfratshausen and Wannemacher switched roles. The young Münsinger presented his YouTube hit “Soiz in meine Suppn”, which was frequently clicked on the Internet, in the style of a Bavarian entertainer and then cleared Marienplatz for singer Claudia Sommer. Because according to the regulations of the regulatory office, the musicians were allowed to play in one place for a maximum of half an hour before they had to move to another location.

Strolling and live music: “The city is finally coming to life”

“There’s finally a bit of life in the city,” said Hans-Werner Kuhlmann in praise of the concept. The former chairman of the “Lebendige Altstadt Wolfratshausen” (LAW) association enjoyed the unusual ambience, as did the Geretsried singer-songwriter Willi Sommerwerk, who came this Saturday as a curious visitor. “The idea is great and it’s fun,” he said enthusiastically.

Cultural manager Andreas Kutter now hopes that the series of events he initiated will quickly establish itself. “Today was a good start,” he summed up on Saturday afternoon. If the weather is sunny, there will now be street concerts in the old town every weekend from 1pm to 3pm until at least the end of July.
