As the representatives of the street artist informed LETA, this is the largest “monster” of “Kiwie” so far outside Riga within the borders of Latvia – the size of the work reaches 140 square meters. The place was chosen to promote the further development of Valmiera region as a regional cultural center, reminding of outstanding artists who were born within the region.
Last weekend I had the opportunity to paint a tribute artwork to Gustavs Klucis 1895–1938, a central figure of Constructivism and pioneer of photomontage. #kiwie #kiwie1001 #streetart #muralart #graffiti #wallpainting pic.twitter.com/XOWfLf4gTZ

The painting was made on the wall of Virķēni gym, near Virķēni manor. Basketball players such as Kristaps Janičenoks, Andris Biedriņš, Dāvis and Dairis Bertāni, Rolands Šmits and others have once trained and played in the gym. Next year, it is planned to supplement the surroundings of the manor with at least two more large-format works, in which the street artist will also focus on the topic of basketball.
Representatives of the street artist noted that this work “Kiwie” was inspired by Klucis’ work “Dynamic City”, which was created 100 years ago and can be viewed from all points of view. The concept of Kiwie’s work is “Sometimes Up, Sometimes Down” – “as any person’s path goes up and down, it is important to maintain the ability to look at things from different angles”.
