Streaming service Apple Plus not yet a resounding success

Even before its introduction, Apple’s streaming service was seen as a ‘Netflix killer’. However, Apple Plus turned out not to be the service they had hoped for. The number of original films and series is limited and there are still no ‘must see’ series.

From American research of MoffettNathan shows that the majority (62%) of Apple TV+ viewers are still in the free trial period. Apple has extended the free trial period several times, which seems to be fearful that current users will turn their backs on the service en masse as soon as they have to pay. The landscape of streaming services is becoming increasingly crowded and with competitors such as Disney, Netflix and Amazon Prime, Apple TV Plus is still in a weak position.

More interesting is the poll, which the Dutch Apple news site iCulture has set up. This shows that more than 71% of the respondents will not pay for the service. Only 3.71% is a paying member and 4.57% intends to take out a paid subscription.

Note: The poll was not closed at the time of publication of this article. These were the results for 350 respondents.
