Netflix, Prime Video & Co. are facing competition in the European streaming market. A successful platform from the USA is set to launch internationally in 2021.
Choosing which streaming services to subscribe to will be even more difficult in 2021. Several months ago, plans were made public that the American platform Hulu may be available outside of the US in the coming year *. A combination of Hulu and Disney + is also rumored to be conceivable. Now, however, another platform has announced that it wants to come to Europe in a few months. We’re talking about HBO Max.
In the US, the streaming service offers award-winning series such as „Game of Thrones“ or „The Wire“ at. In this country leads Sky many HBO productions thanks to a deal with Warner. So if the streaming giant from the USA comes to Germany soon, it could Sky as Netflix, Prime Video and Disney+ getting dangerous.
HBO Max is coming to Europe – but some details are still unclear
According to several media reports, Andy Forssell, head of HBO Max Global, is slated for the international launch of HBO Max announced at the Web Summit 2020 conference. For example, the technology portal t3n reports that an expansion to 190 countriesin Europe and Latin America, among others. From the second half of next year, these plans are to be put into practice.
Forssell did not want to give further details. Accordingly, it is still unclear whether HBO Max also starts in this country. Since some countries such as Norway or Spain already have access to HBO offers, they will probably be able to enjoy the streaming service sooner.
There is bad news, however: the blockbusters, which are slated to start on HBO Max in 2021, will probably only be available in the USA, according to t3n. Should the corona situation also lead to cinemas in Europe remaining closed in 2021, it could HBO but reconsider this decision.

HBO Max in Germany: What could a subscription cost?
There are currently no details about the prices that are due in European countries. In the US there is a subscription $ 14.99 per month. That corresponds roughly 12,40 Euro. Falls HBO Max comes to Germany, the streaming service will probably start with a reduced offer, which is why the prices could be lower than the USA. In addition, a subscription for 12.40 euros would be much more expensive than that Netflix standard plan or the regular price from Disney +.
