Streamer ordered to pay Nintendo $7.5 million fine | Entertainment

For the streamer EveryGameGuru it’s now game over.

Nintendo doesn’t take a joke when it comes to piracy and leaks. Jesse Keighin, as the influencer’s real name is, also had to experience this the hard way. Like from one Media report As it turns out, he faces a fine of up to 7.5 million US dollars – the equivalent of around 7 million euros!

The reason: Keighin showed pirated games with emulator software in live streams. Even though Nintendo blocked his YouTube and Twitch channels, he created new accounts and continued streaming.

He even showed illegal copies of Gameswhich had not yet appeared. He presented “Mario & Luigi: Brothership” on October 22nd – more than two weeks before the official release on November 7th.

What is an emulator anyway? To put it simply, it is a program that allows you to play console games on the PC. This often leads to problems with copyright.

According to Nintendo’s lawsuit, there have been at least 50 such banned live streams from him for at least ten different software titles in the last two years. This represents an unauthorized interference in marketing before a product release by the company.

Therefore requested Nintendo 150,000 US dollars (around 140,000 euros) per violation – and thus a total of 7.5 million US dollars.

Keighin apparently didn’t take Nintendo seriously beforehand. He publicly taunted the company in his live streams and even wrote an email to Nintendo in which he said he would open thousands of new channels to continue showing pirated content.

Now, given the high level of lawsuits, he may be less in the mood for antics.
