Stream tonight: The last really good action thriller with Steven Seagal – Kino News

At the beginning of the 90s, Steven Seagal became an action icon. However, the Aikido master only delivered really good genre contributions over a manageable period of time. His last hit, “Lonely Decision”, is available as a WOW subscription.

Steven Seagal (“Driven To Kill”) has delivered several action films that are now considered classics of their genre. These include “Nico”, “Hard To Kill”, “Allowed to Kill”, “Deadly Revenge” and the “Alert Level: Red” ripper. As early as the mid-1990s, there were indications that the Aikido master’s career was slowly but surely losing its luster. The actioner “Lonely Decision” was supposed to be released in 1996 and was probably the last really good hit with Steven Seagal in a larger role.

That’s what “Lonely Decision” is about

After a bomb detonates in London, the plane with US Senator and presidential candidate Makros (JT Walsh) on board is hijacked. Responsible for this is a cell of Islamist terrorists who are taking revenge for the imprisonment of top terrorist El Sayed Jaffa (Andreas Katsulas). The terrorists, led by Jaffa’s right-hand man Nagi Hassan (David Suchet), want to release the hostages in exchange for Jaffa regaining its freedom. While the US government wants to give in to the demand, anti-terrorism expert Dr. David Grant (Kurt Russell) another terrorist motive.

He believes that they have a large amount of nerve gas on board and will use the plane as a weapon. Just when the crisis team has finally run out of advice, elite fighter Lt. Old school action with a surprise effect

There won’t be any spoilers at this point, but “Lonely Decision” occupies a very special place in Steven Seagal’s work: While he is allowed to embody the elite soldier role he is known for with grim sayings for the first 45 minutes, After that, there’s a pretty solid surprise that seemed pretty daring, especially in 1996 – after Seagal had scored a box office hit with “Alert Level: Red”!

In addition, “Lonely Decision” is not an action thriller that can uproot trees with innovative ideas, but director Stuart Baird (“Star Trek: Nemesis”) delivers gripping home cooking that will particularly appeal to fans of old-school genre cinema. In the official one FILMSTARTS review Our author Björn Becher gave it a respectable 3.5 out of 5 stars and attested that the film was “simply exciting enough to cover up its weaknesses”.
