Latvian national team basketball player Artūrs Strautiņš scored ten points in the Italian Super Cup on Thursday, but did not save Varēze’s “Openjobmetis”, represented by him and Ingus Jakovičs, from losing.
In the fifth game of subgroup A, Varese basketball players with 77:91 (20:19, 21:23, 18:25, 18:24) acknowledged the superiority of the famous Milan club “AX Armani Exchange Olimpia”.
Strautiņš spent 19 minutes and nine seconds in the duel on the court, broadcasting two of the four two-point shots and two of the three “threes” in the basket. Tony Douglass was the most productive with 16 points in Varese, but Chevons Shields scored 18 points.
The unit represented by the Latvians had one success in five games and had already lost the chance to enter the next phase.
Meanwhile, Jānis Blūms scored six points on Thursday, while his team of Reggio di Emilia “Unahotels” in the Group B game with the result 95:93 (20:22, 20:23, 23:25, 23:16, 9: 7) beat Bologna “Fortitudo”.

All 16 teams are participating in the Italian Super Cup, which plans to start in the A series of the local championship this season. The teams are divided into four groups, but after the group tournament there will be semi-finals, for which the winner of each group will qualify.
The “Final Four” tournament will be played from September 18 to 20.
