Island scientists said Saturday that what is believed to be a meteor lit up the sky over eastern Cuba and caused an explosion. There were no reports of damage or injuries.
The head of the National Seismological Service, Enrique Aranjo Arias, told the official Cubadebate news site that the phenomenon had been observed in the towns of Moa, Sagua de Tanamo and Maisi.
He said that the service tools “registered the expansive wave” of the Explosion.
Social media users have reported seeing red and White light An explosion followed around 10:06 pm local time on Friday.
The explosion shook the ionosphere.
