With the Straubing Tigers, a club from the German Ice Hockey League will take part in the Spengler Cup in Davos, Switzerland, for the first time since 2018. In the 96th edition of the prestigious tournament, which will take place from December 26th to 31st, 2024, four of the six participants have been confirmed, alongside the Lower Bavarians with defending champions HC Davos, Fribourg-Gottéron and Team Canada. The last German team to take part was the Nuremberg Ice Tigers six years ago.
“Not only because German ice hockey is very attractive and internationally top, but also because we can fulfill a long-cherished wish of the many German guests in Davos,” said tournament president Marc Gianola in a statement on Friday.
