Strasbourg. The European Parliament ready to buy the Osmose building


You have, it seems, good news concerning the seat of the European Parliament…

The heart of the support of the State and local authorities for the status of Strasbourg as European capital is the long-term establishment of the European Parliament. So Prime Minister Jean Castex and President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola have reached an agreement in principle for Parliament to acquire the Osmose building.

After this commitment in principle, there are still stages of negotiation with the Caisse des dépôts, the State, the communities and the European Parliament. This negotiation is led by the prefect Josiane Chevalier on behalf of the State. Parliament will also have to carry out a legal and political validation by its office (meeting of the president and vice-presidents of the institution, editor’s note) and its budget committee.

The very good news is that the European Parliament, through the voice of its new president, wants to commit to strengthening its roots in Strasbourg.
