Attacked for wearing a skirt. It happened on Friday 18 September to a 22-year-old student, identified by the French media as Elisabeth, on her way home to Strasbourg. Strasbourg police have opened an investigation into the attack.

The story
Interviewed by France Blue Alsace Radio, Elisabeth said that the attack began when a young man pointed to her and shouted: “Look at that bitch in the skirt.” The young woman turned around and limited herself to saying: “Are you welcome?” At that point three boys approached and attacked her. The woman was shot in the face, as she later told herself on Facebook in a post of complaint. The attack lasted several minutes e at least a dozen people, according to Elisabeth, she passed the group during the beating, but did not intervene. “This is the thing that angers me most, the indifference of others,” he commented.

The sentence
The episode was harshly condemned by the French government. The delegated minister responsible for citizenship Marlène Schiappa (for some time engaged on the issue of gender equality, so much so that from 2017 to last July she was Secretary of State for Gender Equality) went to Strasbourg for a public debate on the issue of women’s safety in public spaces. New aggression
Yesterday a new episode of violence: two 18-year-olds were attacked in broad daylight in the French city of Mulhouse, in Alsace, because one of them wore a too short skirt. The scene took place around 16.30 in a central area of the city where the two young women were waiting for the bus. The boy made an appreciation: “Do you want to shorten it a little more?”. And faced with her bewilderment, he started slapping her until she threw her to the ground. Not satisfied, the attacker then grabbed her friend by the throat, who had tried to react. He is now under arrest.
