SUKABUMIUPDATE.com – Rain is a natural phenomenon that commonly occurs on Earth. The composition of rain on our planet is generally water and snow. Of course, rain and snow on Earth are a blessing for all living things because they help sustain life. Therefore, living on Earth is something to be grateful for and it is necessary to take care of it.
Unlike Earth, other planets do not have the same conditions. There are a number of planets that do not experience rain, but there are also those that experience rain with strange and extreme compositions. According to zmescience.com, here are six planets other than Earth that have strange and extreme rain.
1. Venus
Venus is a neighboring planet to Earth and is similar in size to our planet. The 2nd closest planet to the Sun is known to have extreme rain. It is thought that Venus rains liquid sulfuric acid. In the field of chemistry, sulfuric acid is classified as a strong acid and is corrosive or destructive.

Sulfuric acid rain cannot be separated from the factors that Venus’s atmosphere contains, which consists of 90 percent carbon dioxide, as well as volcanic eruptions which produce large amounts of sulfur. What is unique is that this sulfuric acid rain will not reach the surface of Venus, because the high temperature will evaporate the rain drops at a height of 25 kilometers above the surface.
2. HD 189733b
HD 189733b is a planet located outside our solar system. It is suspected that this exoplanet rains glass. NASA researchers saw that planet HD 189733b had light reflections like glass. It is known that the planet’s atmosphere contains silica to make natural glass.
This planet also has a very high temperature of up to thousands of degrees Celsius and a very fast rotation towards its parent star. So it is predicted that glass will rain on this planet, whether in solid or liquid form. Terrifying isn’t it?

3. Neptune
Neptune can be said to be a rich planet, because the farthest planet in our solar system is thought to experience diamond rain. Neptune’s atmosphere consists of methane, ammonia, water and ice. Scientists predict that methane on Neptune will turn into diamonds.
4. OGLE-TR-56b
This planet, which has a unique name, is located outside our solar system. It is suspected that this planet experiences iron rain. This planet has a high temperature reaching 2 thousand degrees Celsius. Due to its high temperature, the planet is able to create clouds of iron atoms and is thought to rain iron.
5. HAT-P-7b
Still from outside our solar system, this time the planet HAT-P-7b has a rainy composition that is no less unique. This planet is thought to experience rain in the form of rubies and sapphires.
Astronomers think that the clouds on this planet contain corundum. Corundum is an aluminum oxide crystal that forms ruby and sapphire.

6. Titan
Next is Titan, this celestial body is actually not a planet but a natural satellite of Saturn.
Even so, Titan is often the object of observation by astronomers. Because this satellite is known to have a solid atmosphere and liquid which is thought to be water on its surface, similar to Earth.
Apart from that, Titan is also similar to Earth in that it experiences rain on its surface. However, what makes it different is its composition. Saturn’s largest natural satellite is thought to experience rain containing methane, not water.
