Darmstadt (ots) –
A total of four strangers approached a group of people standing in front of a hotel on Karolinenplatz at around 4:15 a.m. on Sunday night (01 May). One of the men then suddenly sprayed pepper spray into the group of people. Two other attackers also hit a 23-year-old man with telescopic batons, injuring him. The 23-year-old required medical attention for his injuries. A total of eight women and men between the ages of 20 and 24 suffered minor injuries. The attackers then fled on foot in the direction of Herrngarten. An immediately initiated search has so far been unsuccessful. The police are now investigating a grievous bodily harm.
The fugitives are all between 15 and 20 years old and, according to the witnesses, are said to have North African appearance. One of the attackers was wearing a black jacket with a fur collar, another is said to be corpulent and wearing light-colored clothing.
