Already six years that the phenomenon lasts. First aired in July 2016 on Netflix, the series has only four seasons and 32 episodes, each new episode announced is the subject of incredible expectation among the fans. During its first weekend of operation in early June, the first episodes of season 4 exploded all records with 286.79 million hours of viewing. Blessed bread for the creators of the series, Matt and Ross Duffer, and Netflix of course.
Three Hawkins in the United States…
A supernatural series marked by the universe of science fiction and fantasy that tells the story of a group of friends in the 1980s in the town of Hawkins, Indiana. A 12-year-old disappears and his mother, his friends and the chief of police will try to find him. At the same time, supernatural phenomena are observed in Hawkins and they would not be unrelated to the disappearance of the young boy.
Hawkins, precisely, is marked by a renewed interest in the United States. “Everyone wants to go there,” says Le Figaro. In the world of series, whether through conventions or individual will, fans often flock to the cities of filming locations. So with Stranger Things, everyone wants to go to Hawkins. Problem: if the city does exist in the United States, there are even three of them, they are namesakes. That of the series does not exist!
Much of the series filmed in the studio
The creators of the series certainly filmed the majority of the scenes in Indiana, but in Screen Gems Studios, and the natural setting chosen was that of the Bellwood Quarry quarry, the very one where Hunger Games and The Walking Dead were filmed. . But regardless, fans still travel to the scene, in the cities of Hawkins, whether that of Georgia, Texas or Wisconsin. Quoted by our colleagues, Hotels.com even noted an explosion of searches for Hawkins after season 3 (+ 73%).
However, note Le Figaro, you will not travel for nothing if you go to one of these three states. In Georgia, Hawkinsville is renowned for its carriage racing, even hosting a festival every year. That of Texas hosts the Oil Festival and is even famous for being the “capital of pancakes”. As for that of Wisconsin, it is much smaller and only walks or the discovery of Wisconsin Concrete Park could amaze you. We are a long way from the world of Stranger Things, the sequel to season 4 of which is scheduled for early July.
