Series creators Matt and Ross Duffer have confirmed that there will be several character deaths in the season four finale. The first volume of the fourth season of Stranger Things was released on May 27, 2022, with the second volume following on July 1. The audience is looking forward to the release of the second volume after the exciting first. In the first half of the season, after numerous mysterious deaths occur in Hawkins, the team of heroes learn that they are dealing with a serious threat from a new and powerful villain – Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower).

The undead have great power, and Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), the only power that can stop him, is still fighting to get his powers back. The first volume ended on a cliffhanger, with several characters stranded, especially Nancy (Natalia Dyer) and Steve (Joe Keery). It felt like the first volume was preparing for some character deaths, especially since it introduced a few new characters, resulting in a very large cast that could certainly handle some cuts. Noah Schnapp was the first star to reveal that there would be some major deaths in Volume 2, and now the creators have commented on that as well.

In an interview with Variety, the Duffer brothers confirmed that there would be deaths in the fourth season. The interviewer asked if there would be multiple corpses by the end of the season and they said yes, simply saying, “Of course, of course.”

As such, the Duffer Brothers have officially confirmed that viewers can expect several deaths by the end of the fourth season. The death was quite expected, but the repeated confirmation that there will be more than one death is definitely worrying and surprising. At the same time, neither Schnapp nor the Duffer brothers have confirmed whether these will be the deaths of the main characters or new actors. The show has a habit of killing off new characters that were introduced after the first season. This trend can be seen in Bob (Sean Astin) and Alexi (Alec Uthoff), who were introduced after the first season and died the same season they debuted. There’s a possibility that Stranger Things will focus on a new character, but there’s also the possibility that they could kill someone from the original group.

After all, confirming multiple deaths is unnerving and provides no indication of who might die. The audience is definitely very worried about Nancy and Steve, but perhaps this was done in order to confuse the audience.
