The tentacles are between four and eight in size and form the reproductive system ofAnthurus archeri, the scientific name of this mushroom. They carry the spores which allow the sexual reproduction of the fungus. It is found in some of our French forests, but this extraterrestrial fungus is native to the South Pacific.
