Strange! This Footballer Has Retired, but Still Gets Penalty

Lisbon

A strange incident has just happened to the former defender Portugal National Team and Real Madrid Fabio Coentrao. Despite hanging up his boots, Coentrao got suspended.

Coentrao has retired since July 2021 after going through adventures at many clubs, such as Benfica, Real Madrid, Real Zaragoza, AS Monaco, Sporting CP, and finally Rio Ave.

Coentrao then decided to retire at the age of 33, which is still productive to play. However, Coentrao chose to swerve to become a fisherman, following in his father’s footsteps.

Even Coentrao’s career as a fisherman is quite successful because he now has 45 employees in Setubal, his hometown and dreams of owning 10 boats when he is 40 years old.

“I know I will retire someday as a footballer and that is where I will take another path in life. My happiness is in this area and also the sea. I want to live it. My father always had a boat, he loved fishing,” Coentrao said in an interview last December. .

However, Coentrao’s life as a fisherman is now disturbed because of his career as a Rio Ave player. Coentrao had strengthened Rio Ave for a year since 2020.

Precisely in April 2021, Coentrao was involved in a commotion when Rio Ave drew 3-3 against Boavista. At that time Coentrao attacked and mocked his opponent.

The case has apparently been hanging over the Portuguese Football Federation and the Portuguese League. As a result, a ban from playing one game and a fine of 850 euros (Rp 12.9 million) for Fabio Coentrao just dropped this Thursday (11/8).

This ridiculous punishment then made the FPF and the Portuguese League blame each other. The FPF claimed to have twice reminded the League to immediately take care of the case, while the League said the investigation process was running fast but the FPF did not respond.

Oh, that’s all.
