Strange Škoda for sale. Up for grabs is a secret coupe that shouldn’t exist. The owner also wants an incredible sum for the bathtub – Garáž.cz

The development of the Škoda 1200 began in 1948, and series production began in 1952. The model of the classic concept with a backbone frame was first sold in a passenger version as a sedan, but from 1953 the Škoda station wagon 1200 STW with a one-piece fifth door opening to the side, there was also an ambulance and a pick-up truck.

At the beginning of 1956, the production of the modern Škoda 1201 started with a more powerful engine of 33 kW (45 hp).

And it’s from the latest 1201 that’s supposed to be based on the aforementioned two-door coupe, which we found in a German ad on Mobile.de. We already know that body type doesn’t match. In this context, the seller says that he is offering a special one and that there is only one coupe – and one convertible.

While the prototype of the open car is known, its prototype was already created in 1950 (the cabriolet did not go into series production), there is silence that the bathtub is there. However, it is definitely not a factory product.

The bright red Škoda with unusually large wheels really intrigued us, which is why we started our search. And we found out, we are not surprised, that it was a later reconstruction.

On Facebook, we found ads of the Slovak company 83 REBORN, in which this company, which specializes in the renovation of classic cars, offers for sale a red Škoda 1201 Sedan converted into a coupe two a door The color, the wheels or the interior design also correspond to the piece “our”.

In the ad, the seller refers to the car as a work that was started 20 years ago and needs to be completed. The coupe was supposed to come from the collection of one of 83 REBORN customers.

The mention of the new 1.5 liter engine is interesting. A petrol unit with the same dimensions is also mentioned in the German advertisement, which adds to the power of 54 kW and the presence of a 4-speed manual transmission. So it is clear that the special Škoda somehow made its way from Slovakia to Germany to its current owner. And now he is selling it. The seller also claims that the car has only been driven on bumps, maintained and garaged.

And the price? The current owner wants a whopping 42,000 euros, which translates to about a million crowns. In September 2015, an unusual Škoda was for sale for 7,000 euros – that’s about 177,000 crowns according to the current exchange rate.

Yes, at that time it was an unfinished car, on which someone had to tinker and put extra money, but the difference in the price worry us…
