Strange Phenomenon of Covid Patients CT Value 1.8, Ministry of Health Opens Voice

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Ministry of Health (Ministry of Health) is still waiting for the results of the examination of specimens from the group Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) who just returned to East Java recently.

Whole Genome Sequence (WGS) examination was carried out in response to the results of the Cycle Threshold (CT) of a patient showing a very low value, at 1.8.

This finding is considered worrying by the medical team at the Surabaya Covid-19 emergency hospital, or the Indrapura Field Hospital (RSLI), because it is an indication of the discovery of a new SARS-CoV-2 virus mutation case.

“Not yet [indikasi varian baru]”We are still waiting, we have to check the genome sequencing,” said the Ministry of Health’s Director of Direct Infectious Disease Control (P2PML) Siti Nadia Tarmizi via text message to CNNIndonesia.com, Thursday (9/9).

Nadia said the low CT value could not be a definite reference that Covid-19 patients were exposed or gave birth to new variants. The Ministry of Health previously determined that if the CT value was below 30, their specimens would be examined using WGS.

CT value is an indicator that can show the amount of virus load from a sample taken from a patient’s specimen. If the value is low, then the number of Covid-19 viruses that exist will increase. And vice versa, if the CT value tends to be high, it means that the amount of virus in the body is small.

“This still has to be confirmed with WGS. Of course the WGS examination can confirm what variant of the Covid-19 virus is, is it really a new variant,” Nadia explained.

The RSLI medical team recently discovered a strange phenomenon from a number of Covid-19 patients being treated there, in the form of a low CT value.

The person in charge of the RSLI, First Admiral Dr. Ahmad Samsul Hadi, said that after finding low results, the team repeated the PCR swab test on the patient for up to 12 days of treatment.

However, he continued, the patient’s CT value still showed the number 1.8. Not only in one person, Samsulhadi said that low CT values were also found in a number of other PMI patients. The low CT Value continued even to the 10th day of their treatment.

Similarly, the Doctor in Charge of RSLI Services, Fauqa Arinil Aulia, said that his party recently found a number of patients with low CT values tend to be extreme.

This finding even contradicts the findings and theories of Covid-19 cases previously found at RSLI. Where the CT value of the patient will gradually increase and improve towards the 2nd week of treatment.
