The message that was supposed to get through? That will probably come later. But don’t worry: it’s hardly a scam. So what is the message about?
Strange Whatsapp notice in chat – not a scam or spam
The surprise is great when, instead of the expected message on Whatsapp, the message suddenly comes: “Wait for this message. It may take a moment.” It’s not a fake, nor is it one of the many scams on Whatsapp. Especially since the messenger giant is taking action against spam and fraud with a new function.
The reason for the message from Whatsapp is simple and is also explained by what is probably the most popular messenger in the world, which after all has around two billion users. If you press “Learn more”, you will not run any risk in this case. The button only leads to the Whatsapp FAQ area, which contains the reason for the notification.
That means the strange Whatsapp message
The reason for the Whatsapp message in the chat is therefore due to the end-to-end encryption. So it can happen that either the sender or the recipient of the message has just reinstalled Whatsapp or has an older version of the messenger giant on their smartphone. Means: It may be that an update is on the way.
Whatsapp suggests as a solution in the help area, on the one hand asking the sender to open Whatsapp once on the cell phone. On the other hand, both sides should check whether the latest version is installed on the mobile phone. This allows the problem to be resolved and the message to be received.
