Jakarta – You live in an apartment? Try checking the doormat in front of your apartment? Is it still there or was it lost by a neighbor?
Last Sunday, Frankie Lim, a resident of the High Park Residences apartment in Fenrvale, Singapore, shared a funny story he had experienced on Facebook. He said he received a strange letter of reprimand from a neighbor he didn’t know the previous Friday. What do you think the letter contained?
Launching AsiaOne, Thursday (24/8/2023), the letter of warning entitled “Encroached items removed” or “items found have been thrown away” explains that MCST as the apartment manager has given a warning to unit owners regarding the prohibition of excessive use of the shared area. Anyone who finds apartment neighbors breaking the rules has the right to move items that fill the shared area.
“Due to no action being taken on your part, we have moved the items to the apartment holding area,” the letter explained. Lim was asked to come to the manager’s office if he wanted to retrieve their belongings.
At the bottom of the letter is a description of the infringing item: doormat. Suddenly this made Lim confused. The reason is, he feels that all apartment residents have mats and shoe racks in front of their doors. He believes that MCST is working on the matter. However, until this article was written, the MCST had not provided any response.
Lim’s story immediately sparked a response from netizens. Several netizens shared similar experiences in the comments column. Not a few have speculated that the management is trying to prevent piles of goods in the shared area and maybe this mat is too big so it ‘steals’ attention.
There were also those who wondered, how big was the doormat that was protested like that.
