Jakarta –
implementation SEA Games 2023 Cambodia is colored by some surprising things. The following describes the ‘sad’ facts of its implementation.
The 2023 SEA Games have started since, Friday (5/5/2023). A number of strange moments accompanied the struggle of the Indonesian contingent in the biggest multi-event in Southeast Asia. Here are the details.
Indonesia took part in 32 of the 36 sports contested by Cambodia, from 5-17 May. Indonesia alone has collected 23 gold medals.
However, during the four match days a number of strange things did not escape this year’s SEA Games. That moment was directly felt by the athletes of the Red and White.
1. Podium Lighting with Car Lights
First, awarding medals to podium winners in the men’s 20 km fast road. Coincidentally, Hendro Yap became an Indonesian athlete who won a gold medal.
The moment of the medals in SEA Games 2023 even somewhat strange because it is done in dark conditions. As a result, to illuminate the podium, the organizing committee used car lights.
This moment also went viral on the timeline because Cambodia was considered not serious in preparing for the event.
2. Plastic Chairs in Locker Room and Race Track
Second, a plastic chair to put the players’ jersey on. This moment is also quite a concern for netizens.
Ideally, the host would provide a special chair to put the athlete’s clothes on, but what happened was unexpected.
Many netizens believe that the chairs that are usually used for these invitations are not suitable for use in the international multi-event that is held every two years.
Plastic chairs also appeared when the marathon race was about to begin. As seen from the @komisiwasit account, Agus Prayogo et al, who will start the race, are seen waiting for the organizers to turn on the LED lights.
In the uploaded video, it is heard that the Jakarta Marathon is still better than holding a marathon competition in Jakarta SEA Games 2023 Cambodia.
Due to this incident, netizens also considered that Panpel was not ready enough to hold the SEA Games.
3. The Athlete’s Room Leaks Due to Heavy Rain
Third, the rooms for the athletes for the Indonesian badminton team in the athlete’s village are leaking. The room was actually occupied by Komang Ayu Cahya Dewi, Stephanie Widjaja, and Mutiara Ayu Puspitasari.
The room is located on the 3rd floor of the Athlete’s House, Cambodia. Team Manager Eddy Prayitno said that his party had reported the condition of the leak to the Cluster Manager.
“That it is true that there was one room on the third floor, namely the room of Komang, Stephanie and Mutiara, which had a leak due to the heavy rain that hit Phnom Penh since this afternoon,” said Eddy in a PBSI release yesterday.
“We immediately reported it to the Cluster Manager and it was handled quickly. Currently, repairs are being carried out on the ceiling of the room and a new mattress is being prepared to be placed in the room next to it.”
“We have also calmed the athletes down and we urge them to stay focused considering there will be a match tomorrow. This is just a force majeure,” he added.
